MRS OIL NIGERIA PLC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS

As part of the corporate social responsibility of the MRS OIL NIGERIA PLC, the scholarship scheme is currently opened for qualified and interested candidates. This is part of its values to promote academic excellence. As such, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc seeks to support its Shareholders in achieving the highest levels of educational excellence they dream for their children through the sponsorship of their academically outstanding children.

ABOUT MRS OIL NIGERIA PLC

MRS OIL NIGERIA PLC is a subsidiary of MRS Holdings. MRS Oil Nigeria Plc is a Nigerian oil marketing company with headquarters in Lagos. The firm previously traded under the name of Texaco Nigeria Plc. MRS Oil has three business units which are, Sale of petroleum at retail outlets or to industries, Sale of aviation fuel and blending of lubricants. Its activities in Nigeria dates back to 1969 when it was established to take over the Nigerian trading interest of Texaco Africa Limited. In 2009, a consortium of MRS Holdings and Petroci Holdings bought majority stake from Chevron Oil and Gas to form MRS Oil Nigeria PLC.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

The MRS Oil Nigeria PLC scholarship scheme is awarded basically to two categories of students;

The first category are those Senior Secondary School 1 to 3 Students who attend a government owned or accredited private secondary schools in Nigeria

The second category is for undergraduates who have been offered admission into government owned or accredited private Tertiary Nigerian institutions such as University, Polytechnic or Monotechnic, for the duration of their course.

Requirements for Eligibility

Secondary School Applicants

  1. Scholarship will be awarded to students who have completed the Junior Secondary Certificate Examination (JSCE), and have a minimum of five (5) distinctions i.e. A, which is equivalent to excellent grading system in the relevant subjects (with at least credit in Mathematics and English Language) at one sitting
  2. Applicant must have the JSCE results available during the application period
  3. Applicant should not be more than 18 years old as at the time of application
  4. Applicant must be a Nigerian
  5. Applicant must be a child of an individual shareholder of MRS Oil Nigeria Plc during the application period
  6. Applicant nominated by a corporate shareholder will not be eligible. A corporate shareholder is a company that has shareholding(s) in MRS Oil Nigeria Plc
  7. Applicant must not be a beneficiary of another scholarship

Undergraduate Applicants

  1. Scholarship will be awarded to students who have completed the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent in NECO and GCE. The applicant must have a minimum of five (5) distinctions i.e. A, which is equivalent to excellent grading system in the five subjects relevant to the course of study in the higher institution of choice (with at least a credit in Mathematics and English Language) at one sitting
  2. Applicant must have been offered admission into an approved tertiary institution (University, Polytechnic, Monotechnic) in Nigeria
  3. Applicants should not be more than 25 years old during the application period
  4. Applicant must be a Nigerian
  5. Applicant must be a child of an individual shareholder of MRS Oil Nigeria Plc during the application period
  6. The shareholder must have held his/her shareholding for a period of not less than 5 years during the application period
  7. Applicant nominated by a corporate shareholder will not be eligible. A corporate shareholder is a company that has shareholding(s) in MRS Oil Nigeria Plc
  8. Applicant must not be a beneficiary of another scholarship
  9. Undergraduate Applicants should note the following conditions:

INSTITUTION TYPE

For the undergraduate scholarship of the MRS Oil Nigeria PLC Scholarship, it is basically opened for students in the University, Polytechnic or monotechnic

For University students, the scholarship awards shall not be given beyond the number of years approved for each course in the university. To view the list of eligible Universities, CLICK HERE

For Polytechnic students, applicants will only be allowed to apply from the first year of the OND programme, which will be carried through the HND programme (same school and same programme). HOW TO APPLY

Applicants should complete an online application containing the following information:

2. All scholarship applications must be submitted electronically (including scanned copies of the following credentials) to [email protected]

Junior Secondary JSCE result for Secondary School category and SSCE result for Tertiary School category in one sitting. The applicants are expected to provide the following information

  1. Admission letter
  2. Birth certificate/affidavit (Birth affidavit date must not be earlier than 60 days before September 5, 2023)
  3. School fees document signed by the school
  4. Parent National ID card

Application Deadline

This application opened on September 5, 2023 and closes on December 31, 2023, and shortlisted applicants would be contacted for further assessment.
